I’m teaching at Quiltcon 2019 in Nashville, TN!

I am excited and honored to announce that I will be teaching multiple classes at Quiltcon February 21-24, 2019 at the Music City Center in Nashville, TN.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Quiltcon…  It is the largest modern quilting show of its kind and it is presented by the Modern Quilt Guild.

Please check out the quiltcon.com website for the course catalog and registration information.

MQG member registration opens June 26th, and non-member registration opens July 10th.

I will be teaching:

Dynamic HST Quilts with Solids – Thursday 9am-5pm – DES012

Learn to create a Dynamic Half-Square Triangle (HST) quilt using solid fabrics.Students will work on a throw size quilt using one of the most basic quilt blocks. Nydia will walk students through the process of selecting fabric, creating Half Square Triangle blocks, and using a design wall to create a colorful and bold quilt.

This class was very well received at Quiltcon in Savannah.

Improvisational play with leftover solids – Saturday 9am-5pm – IMP016

Have you always wanted to try improv but you get stuck before you even start?
This class will promote playing with shapes and color using the leftover solid scraps from previously made projects. Using the leftover scraps from a quilt makes it easier to move past the choosing of materials and helps us to just get sewing. Nydia  will guide students on her approach to improvisational piecing. Students will be empowered to play and relax in a judgment free setting.

Both of these quilts were created using scraps from other quilts.  If for some reason you don’t have any scraps from previous projects thats OK.  Just let me know ahead of time and we will come up with a plan!
