Feathers Quilt Pattern – Blog Hop

Thank you guys for visiting me!

Sewn by Alison Glass Photographed by Nydia Kehnle

It’s almost like an anniversary…

Alison and I became acquaintances… and then friends…and now I am her assistant!! …

It’s been barely a year since we have gotten to know each other and I can’t believe how quickly our friendship and working relationship developed…

One day she was hearting my pillow on instagram… and the next I am designing and working with an incredible, hardworking, creative designer.  WHATTTTTTT???!!!! I know right?

I am so excited to finally be able to blog about our 1st quilt pattern.  Feathers.

Emerson Quilting

I am squealing right now as I look at the above quilt.  This was my first pattern run through and I had decided to keep it simple… I used Robert Kaufman Kona Cottons in my favorite 3 colors.  When I finished it I knew exactly who I was going to send it to… Emerson Quilting !! Emily is just phenomenal.  This is the second quilt I have sent to her and it just keeps getting better.  THANK YOU EMILY… You took my breath away.  OH also… Emily is a nominee for  Martha Stewart American Made so PLEASE vote for her 🙂

I am especially excited about the flexibility of this paper piecing pattern.  When purchasing patterns I am always brainstorming ways that I can use it in unique ways; Feathers was no exception.

Made for my sweet friend Melanie
Feathers  Pillow

I made the above pillow for my friend Mel… She just moved into her new house and I wanted to make her something special.  I love pillows because they allow me to get an idea out of my head without the time investment of a quilt… I totally see more of these in my future.

I selected Template M and N… (Just incase you want to create a similar one)

Feather's Zippy Pouch
Feathers  Zippy Pouch

Alison and I also wanted to make sure that the pattern could be used without sashing too.  It definitely changes the feathers look to a more chevron zigzag look depending on the templates you choose.  For this zippy pouch I chose to scale the pattern to 45%.  Don’t forget that when you do any scaling of templates… you have to make sure your seams are redrawn to a 1/4 inch.

Andover Textures Baby Quilt

I was also able to finish up this baby quilt using Andover Textured Solids… Let me tell you they are so soft.  It almost makes me want to have another baby to wrap up…  NO not really… 🙂  I really can’t explain how yummy this quilt feels.

  1. WOW! Your purple and blue feathers and Emily’s quilting are just awesome. I also like your pouch and baby quilt too. Thanks for the opportunity to win this great pattern!

  2. I like them all, but I especially love that baby quilt. Maybe it’s the colors. I would love to see that one in person and feel it. I would love to make one similar to that.

  3. This is, hands down, the best quilt design I’ve seen this year!!!! I fell in love with AG’s bike path last year and between the new fabric line and your collaboration/design of this pattern, it just keeps getting better. Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  4. I feel the same as you do about pillows! Just can’t get enough of them, and the pattern is perfect for them. Thanks for the giveaway, and congrats on a wonderful design.

  5. The feathers quilt is gorgeous & the quilting is amazing. I love paper piecing. Thanks for the chance to win.

  6. So proud of you sweet friend!!! You have done an AMAZING job!!! I still have a hard time keeping Max off the pillow! 😉 xoxo

  7. I would do the same pattern you used on the zipper pouch, but apply that to seat cushions. I think a minimal (just a small amount if colored feathers) approach would be really cool on my new chairs.

  8. I love this pattern and have just started paper piecing. Thanks for the chance to win this pattern.

  9. I love this pattern, love what you have made from it too! I think the quilt would be so nice to make but I would probably want a bag with the feather patchwork on the front.

  10. Your quilt and the quilting on it are beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I wonder how I could incorporate your design on a tote? Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your pattern.

  11. This quilt is beautiful and the quilting is absolutely breathtaking!! I can see why you use Emerson Quilting. I have bookmarked her site for future reference and will be following you via bloglovin. Thanks for the opportunity to win your pattern!

  12. This blog tour is so cool! Thanks for being a part of it. And the pattern is great! I like the idea of a flexible pattern.

  13. Congratulations on your anniversary working with Alison. I hope to be in your shoes one day, assisting one of out Fabric/Quilting Mavens and try our their creations before they go to market. The zipper pouch you made is awesome! It looks as though the feathers are popping right off of it. I am redecoration my master bedroom right now and I think that either the aqua or the purple Feathers would look fantastic as the new dust ruffle on our bed. It would also make a cute ruffle on the hand towels in our powder room. Now I just have to get my hands on some of this fabric so the I can get a move on all the things I want to do! Thank you for sharing with us and I am going to add Emerson Quilting to my address book for future reference!

  14. I love the amazing quilting on the Kona solids quilt! This pattern would be great to have; thanks for the opportunity. I would likely start with something small, like a pillow.

  15. I am completely blown away by this amazing pattern!!! Beautiful marriage of fabric and design!

  16. Oh, I would be making a quilt with the lovely Frippery FQ pack I won–I think the colors and designs would be perfect for this gorgeous pattern!

  17. I would love to make the full quilt with the pattern, but I can also imagine it working well on cushions, tea towels, bags, clothes…pretty much everything! Love the colours of your quilt.
